About Our European Competition Practice
CRA’s European Competition practice provides economic advice on competition policy and regulation. We assist firms and their legal advisors in all types of competition proceedings, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance, cartels, restrictive agreements, market investigations, litigation and disputes, intellectual property, and state aid. We also advise regulatory authorities on similar matters.
Position Overview
Senior Associates work closely with senior consultants on project teams and will immediately tackle some of the largest, high‑profile competition cases in Europe, playing a key role in shaping economic analysis and strategic thinking.
* Identify and conceptualise issues, specifying rigorous economic models to analyse market issues and data; conduct statistical and econometric estimation.
* Supervise, train, and mentor research associate staff.
* Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarising opinions, conclusions, and recommendations.
* Serve as a primary point of contact for lawyers and other client stakeholders.
* Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using Stata, Python, R, SAS, Matlab, Mathematica, and cloud computing platforms.
* Ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions.
* Contribute to practice‑building activities such as training, recruiting, and publication.
Desired Qualifications
* PhD in economics (expected December 2025 / Summer 2026) with a focus on Applied Microeconomics or Applied Microeconometrics (e.g., industrial organization, labor, health, behavioural, or public economics).
* Experience with Excel, Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, ArcGIS/ArcPy, or cloud platforms (Databricks/GCP/Azure/AWS).
* Strong understanding of economic and financial concepts, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
* Creative and analytical thinkers who approach non‑standard problems innovatively.
* Effective written and oral communication skills.
* High level of initiative and leadership.
* Excellent teamwork, collaboration, time‑management, and task‑prioritization skills.
* Clear interest in consulting demonstrated through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events.
