Design Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join our client in Bedford, if you have a construction background please get in touch.
Main Tasks
Develop designs, specifications and proposals to meet customer requirements.
Provide technical product support and installation advice to both customers and the internal commercial teams.
Create and provide clear and accurate drawings, designs, specifications, and costs to support the commercial process.
Review customer specifications and drawings for sales opportunities
Create and maintain accurate CRM data (MS Dynamics 365)
Generate Technical sales handover documentation in preparation for orders.
Manage customer expectations by providing clear advice and delivery to agreed timescales.
To provide occasional technical support and advice on site or at customer offices as required.
Effectively manage and coordinate bespoke projects with short lead times from brief to manufacture.
To liaise and effectively communicate with internal production department for manufacturing input.
Liaise with internal suppliers in order to create accurate cost and lead time data.
Provision of accurate and up-to-date technical data for Sales & Marketing purposes.
Use of PDM system for technical document control.
Hours
34.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm, Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm.
Skills & Attributes
Passionate about delivery excellent customer service
Mechanical Engineering or sheet metal design experience highly desirable.
Experience working in a technical sales environment desirable.
Proven track record of working within the construction sector.
Able to read and interpret construction/architectural drawings and bill of quantities.
2D and 3D design experience using AutoCad, Inventor or Solidworks required.
Experience using CRM systems such as MS Dynamics 365 preferred but not essential.
Computer literate
Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Driven to achieve results.
Personable, persuasive, and influential
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Full driving license required
