Overview

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Pelvic Health Outpatient Physiotherapy team at North Bristol NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is flexible, dynamic and open to change, to join our friendly and forward-thinking team. The postholder will work within the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy team covering outpatient clinics, self-management and education groups and tele consultations for maternity and gynecology patients. There is occasionally a need to deliver advice to women on maternity wards. There will be a mix of face-to-face and virtual contact (telephone or video). Some travel to community settings and/or different sites for sessions may be required. This role is a mix of clinical, administrative and practical tasks to support the Pelvic Health team. The organisation offers clinical supervision and development through a well-developed supervision structure to build on and extend expertise and skills.

Main duties of the job

* To work as an integral and active part of the North Bristol Trust Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team, supporting a patient-centred service in an efficient and cost-effective way.
* Work under indirect supervision of qualified Physiotherapists in settings including outpatients, physiotherapy gym, maternity inpatient units, virtual clinics (office spaces or home), and community centres. Include 1:1 and group sessions, both virtual and face to face.
* Assist in the overall management of patients within pelvic health physiotherapy, including antenatal, post-natal, and pre/post gynecological surgery groups and conditions such as pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction.
* Undertake direct patient contact and related administrative duties (e.g., booking appointments, coordinating patient groups, data collection, maintaining documentation, managing stock and equipment).


Administrative

* Undertake administrative tasks (e.g., filing, photocopying, assisting with class organization and databases, sending appointment letters, setting up exercise/education groups).
* Perform housekeeping duties as directed (e.g., cleaning equipment, tidying areas, replenishing First Aid Boxes and Resuscitation Trolley).


Professional

* Demonstrate safe use of equipment to patients and carers (e.g., walking aids or support belts).
* Work within Departmental, Trust and CSP guidelines; maintain accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with CSP standards.
* Participate in the staff appraisal scheme and comply with objectives and development plans to meet knowledge and competencies.
* Supervise physiotherapy assistants where appropriate; deliver in-service training sessions for juniors, department staff, assistants and students.
* Undertake data collection for service audit, research or monitoring as directed.


Education/Training/Qualifications

* Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills.
* NVQ level 3 or appropriate level apprenticeship in care (or willingness to work towards).
* Good GCSE level education; evidence of continued learning and development.


Work Experience

* Essential: Previous NHS or social care experience.


Desirable criteria

* Experience of working in an NHS healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation.
* Sports or exercise rehabilitation background including exercise prescription and progression, preferably within a healthcare setting.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Good verbal and written communication skills; essential IT skills; good time management and ability to prioritise workloads.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team; undertake general administrative duties; teach a basic skill; problem solve; and undertake manual handling requirements of the post.
* Desirable: experience of delivering exercise programmes; experience with patient records and data; ability to work flexibly and take initiative.


Personal Qualities

* Good rapport, communication and interpersonal skills; empathetic attitude towards patients; ability to motivate and enthuse patients.
* Willingness to work under supervision and accept direction from senior staff; ability to manage stress; flexible attitude.
