Senior Specialist Scientist – Hydrologist
We are recruiting a full time Senior Specialist Scientist – Hydrologist on a permanent basis. Flexible location; however regular travel required to the central belt and/or Dingwall. Interviews will take place week commencing 27th April. Your passion has never had a greater purpose.

Work that goes beyond your desk
We are seeking a hydrologist with comprehensive experience in flood frequency analysis, FEH Handbook methods, and proficiency in modelling packages such as ReFH2 and WINFAP. Other skills include continuous simulation for flood mapping projects.
Other tasks include:
* Confidently applying statistical approaches, tools and techniques in the analysis of rainfall and river flow datasets
* Leading the application of climate change projections to support flood hazard analysis and mapping
* Developing guidance to support customer use of our products and services
* Developing and mentoring staff
Respect for your expertise
This is a highly important role within our Data, Evidence & Innovation portfolio, which means you’ll need the following:
* Degree in an appropriate scientific discipline or equivalent experience
* Extensive experience in flood frequency analysis and FEH Handbook methods, with strong proficiency in hydrological approaches, including continuous simulation for flood mapping projects
* Good professional experience in the application of hydrological methods, including the application of climate science to flood flow estimation and design
* Effective technical project management skills, with experience of mentoring and developing staff
* Experience in guidance development and proficiency with GIS
* Full UK driving licence as driving is essential to carry out the role
