Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Section Manager, the role of Excavator and Dredger Operative is part of a key team of Operatives producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry. As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations, as Excavator and Dredger Operative you will specifically focus on operational tasks including:
1. Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery and mobile plant (including Loading Shovels, Long Reach Excavators and ADTs)
2. Operating Suction Dredger on site to extract sand and gravel
3. Day to day maintenance of the plant, maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping
4. Training and operation on static plant operations to help drive plant optimisation
5. Working as part of a small team to ensure customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries as well as working independently
6. Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised
7. Assisting the Section Manager with meeting daily/weekly production targets
8. Maintaining and driving a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
9. Compliance and awareness Health and Safety measure around the site
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role Excavator and Dredger Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience preferably working within a similar aggregates environment or an Industrial or Factory environment as an Operative or Labourer ideally operating mobile plant equipment.
As part of an operational team, suitable candidates for the role of Excavator and Dredger Operative will also demonstrate:
10. Experience of operating mobile plant including (including Loading Shovels, Long Reach Excavators and ADTs)
11. Working knowledge of Risk Assessments (ideally within role of Operative)
12. Good timekeeping and time management
13. Flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operational team, adapting to different tasks within the overall team
14. Willingness to also work independently operating mobile plant equipment
15. Self motivated approach and ability to successfully engage with and motivate other colleagues
16. Good communication skills
17. Knowledge and experience of the industry, mobile plant and quarrying (advantageous but not essential as training will be given)
18. Experience working within a Health and Safety based environment
19. Full UK Driving Licence
20. Confident IT skills with proven attention to detail
21. Shovel Licence, Excavator Licence and ADT Licence (preferred not essential)
