The role

Our Financial Services Technology Data and Resilience (TDR) team helps FS firms navigate a fast-moving regulatory landscape while helping them to manage complex data and technology environments. From shaping data strategies to uplifting their data maturity through enhanced data management practices, we combine deep sector insight with leading technology to solve problems alongside our clients.

The essentials

Drawing on your expertise in the insurance or banking sectors, you will enable clients to modernize and future-proof their data capabilities by designing strategic operating models and deploying fit-for-purpose tools and platforms. With over 5 years of consulting or advisory experience in the insurance or banking industry, ideally combining client delivery and business development, you possess the knowledge to navigate complex industry-specific data challenges, including regulatory scrutiny, evolving customer expectations, and legacy operating models. Additionally, your understanding of the data governance ecosystem within the insurance or banking sector—shaped by global regulatory demands, global operations, and legacy systems—empowers you to facilitate strategic and technological transformations to enhance data governance capabilities.

You will utilize your understanding of regulatory drivers such as Solvency II, IFRS 17, and BCBS, alongside data management frameworks like DAMA and DCAM, to aid clients in crafting sustainable data strategies with effective governance, helping insurers and banks alike enhance their data maturity, governance, and reporting practices through innovative and sustainable means.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Strategy: Lead the development of enterprise-wide data strategies, data policies, and operating models, embedding sustainable data management and AI practices while ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards and aligning with sector-specific operational requirements.

2. Data Governance: Advise clients on improving data quality, lineage, and controls to address regulatory gaps, strengthen internal oversight, and enhance data governance capabilities. This includes enabling greater confidence in reporting, analytics, and the adoption of AI.

3. Transformation: Support front and back-office transformation initiatives by improving data architecture to enhance pricing, claims automation, regulatory reporting, customer insights, and risk management. Lead delivery teams on complex change programs, from solution design to managing onshore and offshore technical delivery teams, fostering business insights, transformation, and innovation.

4. AI Integration: Leverage AI and automation to improve scalability and performance in data management and implementation activities, such as data discovery, data quality monitoring, and policy enforcement.

5. Business Development: Deliver added value to clients by identifying opportunities and offering insights and solutions to enhance their data governance and management strategies. Collaborate across PwC and with clients to achieve sustained outcomes across the full data lifecycle—from assessment and design to implementation and optimization.

6. Stakeholder Management: Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate policies, strategies, and regulatory expectations. Provide clear recommendations and engage with key stakeholders in both business and technology segments, bringing clarity and direction to senior stakeholders.

7. Project Leadership: Demonstrate the ability to lead engagements and teams effectively to meet key client requirements and regulatory demands. Oversee delivery and foster the growth of diverse and technologically adept teams, integrating AI and technological tools to optimize performance.

8. Change Management: Actively contribute to the execution of business change and risk transformation projects, potentially managing concurrent client programs. Report updates to Senior Managers and above while developing strategies to address complex technical challenges, assisting firms in rethinking their approach to risk and control and implementing effective and lasting change.

9. Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand engagement with both new and existing clients.
