Job Title: Quality Engineer Salary/Grade: £35,000 - £42,000 per annum (depending on experience) Location: Larne Benefits: Up to 10% bonus 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution up to 6% Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution. Join our team to help build a better, more sustainable world for future generations! The opportunity We are looking for a Quality Engineer role at our Larne site within the Electric Power Division. The position reports directly to the Quality Manager and is responsible for process quality, auditing, and certification. Working as the Quality Engineer, you will work with operations and design engineers in both fabrications and assembly by providing expertise, advice and guidance on both simple and complex problems identified from both internal and external process partners. As the Quality Engineer, you will have a focus on supplier quality and calibration. Supporting operations and suppliers with RCCA's (Root Cause Corrective Action). Calibrating equipment and working with external calibration bodies to ensure the facility is compliant. In this role, you will conduct investigations and analysis which contribute to the development and implementation of methods, procedures and equipment that ensure quality standards for our products. You will provide technical support for products by leading on quality development and certification of processes, cost reduction, production quality problems resolution, and warranty reduction. What you will do: Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards and formulates, develops, and implements quality strategies to accelerate quality improvements. Work with all employees to improve quality practices in their processes through quality manner such as daily coaching and tracking CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) projects. Working with suppliers to provide quality support if any poor results or negative trends occur. Support the RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas from the RCCA process with related persons and spot check, explain the validation reasons. Be a coordinator between related internal teams and suppliers when there are issues or roadblocks during implementing projects and actions generated from the RCCA process and track its implementation progress. Leading the incoming quality audits within the facility. What you have: Education: A degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or progressive job-related experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering environment. Quality Management - Level Working Knowledge: Adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices. Thorough, demonstrable knowledge of quality concepts including process control, analysis, certification principals and understanding of ISO9001. Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality. Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections. Works with quality assurance methods, tools and techniques. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) - Level Working Knowledge: Utilizes RCA techniques, such as Flowchart, Fish-bone Diagram, etc., to investigate basic problems, determine the causes, and find resolutions. Identifies factors that resulted in harmful outcomes of one or more past events. Able to pinpoint behaviors, actions, inaction, or conditions that need to be changed. Problem Solving - Level Basic Understanding: Describes problem reporting and escalation practices. Utilizes accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution. Accuracy and Attention to Detail - Level Working Knowledge: Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights. Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs. Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. Collaborating - Level Basic Understanding: Able to collaborate effectively with teams across the business using good communication and cooperation skills. Flexibility and Adaptability - Level Working Knowledge: Adjusts to new or changing assignments, processes, and people. Demonstrates willingness to listen to other opinions.
