About the Role:
This is a combined role pivotal to the engineering department and the wider company.
The Mechanical Trade Manager/Deputy Base Maintenance Manager is responsible to the Base Maintenance Manager for ensuring the quality and high standard of work produced by the engineering support staff within the mechanical trade boundaries.
They are also responsible for investigating issues from the mechanical team with OEM/TCH support, working closely with CAMO and recommending further action.
They will act as the mechanical subject matter expert where required by other parts of the company.
The Deputy Base Maintenance Manager, also responsible to the Base Maintenance Manager will ensure compliance within the facility in accordance with Pt-145 regulations.
They will perform occurrence investigations, address compliance findings and conduct the day to day running of the maintenance facility at Gamston and act as the Base Maintenance Manager covering both UK and European sites in their absence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Delivery of all mechanical engineering
* Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team
* Ensure a high standard of mechanical engineering functions
* Work with the Av Manager and ensure integration is maintained and supported in line with efficiency.
* Work with the Engineering Support and Capability Delivery Teams as the Subject Matter Expert during the inception, design and integration of all modifications to aircraft.
* Assist the Base Maintenance Manager and Planning Manager to ensure sufficient mechanical engineering coverage
* Assist the Planning Manager to ensure all resources, parts and equipment are available at maintenance inputs
* Manage the acquisition, maintenance and calibration of trade related tooling and equipment.
* Ensure the recency of all company and regulatory requirements of the Mechanical Engineering Team.
* Work closely with the Base Maintenance Manager to identify and facilitate training needs for the mechanical engineering team.
* Perform certifying engineering tasks where required and approved to do so.
* Provide continuity during shift handover periods.
* Working closely with the Part M and contracted Part 21 organisations ensuring airworthiness compliance.
* Assisting in the identification and acceptance of hardware and design development with regards to DEA fleet aircraft
* On occasion, work away from Gamston to support DEA and 3rd party aircraft in UK and overseas.
* Act as an Investigator for Centrik reports as assigned by the Base Maintenance Manager
* Deal with findings/actions assigned by the Base Maintenance Manager
* Develop Mechanical Engineers and their resources.
* Highlight training requirements to the Base Maintenance Manager.
* Ensure the smooth running of Maintenance operations within the hangar at Gamston
* Act as the Component Workshop (Wheels & Brakes) Manager ensuring the workshop remains compliant with the MOE.
* Assist Base Maintenance Manager and Shift Leads with the AOG Rota for Mechanical Engineers/Technicians.
* Act as the Base Maintenance Manager in their absence.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
What you must have:
* A relevant Engineering Degree or a CAA/EASA Pt66 B1 License with at least 1 type
* 5+ years' experience on aircraft in a civilian base or line maintenance environment
* Engineering management experience
What we'd like you to have:
* KingAir 90/200/300 and/or Diamond DA42/62 type ratings.
* Experience with aircraft pre-buys and surveys
* 2+ Years engineering management experience

Monday - Friday (37.5Hrs)
