Scottish Brain Sciences is a Life Sciences Company with Headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland. We deliver clinical trials of new tests and treatments for a range of neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. We foster the rapid translation of research into practice (bench to bedside). We’re offering an 8-month maternity cover position. This could be a great way to broaden your experience, work with a supportive team, and make a real difference. The Clinical Operations Lead is a key figure in our Clinical Delivery Team. This role oversees and coordinates clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. This role works closely with the Director of Clinical Operations, investigators, sponsors, vendors, and study participants to facilitate the conduct of clinical trials and research projects. Some of what you’ll be doing: Coordinating and overseeing the running of CTIMPS, complex clinical trials and in particular acts as the National Coordinator for SBS’ proprietary IONA study. This includes: o Ensuring trials are delivered following regulatory, government, and ethical regulations and requirements o Ensuring adherence to study protocols and Good Clinical Practice guidelines o Managing study documents protocols and records of participants and trials o Collecting data and maintaining detailed records and databases o Maintaining adequate clinical stock/products required for clinical use o Managing staff allocations in relation to workload o Maintaining participant visit schedules and booking required visits with participants o Designing and delivering training to staff and participants o Taking part in clinical activities such as phlebotomy, ECG and blood pressure recording where required o Acting as a point of contact for members of the delivery team on a day-to-day basis Line managing junior Clinical Research Coordinators and Clinical Support Workers, providing coaching and feedback to team members to enable their development and enhance performance. Assisting in recruiting and screening participants for the SBS portfolio and act as a point of contact for study participants to ask any questions or express concerns. Assisting the Director of Clinical Operations in client management, feasibility, start up and delivery of clinical research. Contributing to creating processes and process improvements within the company. Supporting the company as necessary in setting up new locations. Promoting the company and individual studies through meetings, events, and seminars. The skills, experience, and qualifications you’ll bring: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Biology, Health Sciences, or related field. At least 3 years’ experience in clinical research coordination or healthcare administration and at least 1 year experience as a clinical operations lead or similar role. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and clinical trial processes. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and ability to work independently. Willingness to learn, adapt and grow with the company. Strong interpersonal skills – to facilitate relationship building. Collaboration: Works cross-functionally with the Business Development, Biomarker Laboratory, and Engagement teams.
