Responsibilities Seeking enthusiastic, seasoned Casualty insurance operations leader with a passion for insurance, efficiency and technology Arch Insurance North America (AINA)'s strategic initiative portfolio is focused on modernizing and future-proofing our underwriting ecosystem; this role is a key player in enabling digital transformation within our large accounts casualty underwriting teams. The Strategic Operations Manager, Large Accounts Casualty supports large casualty business units (BUs): National Accounts, Construction, Alternative Markets, Excess Workers' Comp (collectively "CNAX") by optimizing operations and technology across the customer and employee journey. S/he serves as the initiative owner for improvement and transformation initiatives specific to these BUs, and partners with enterprise Business Solutions Leads to incorporate enterprise technology initiatives into BU-specific workflows and systems. This role is part of Operations team, reporting into the SVP, Business Solutions Planning & Execution and partnering across the other three Operations verticals: Strategic Portfolio Management, Process Excellence, and Underwriting Operations as well as other functional areas such as Strategic Analytics (SA), Finance, Actuarial and Claims to deliver the entire Operations value proposition to the CNAX business units. Strategy and Planning: Partner with BU leader(s) to understand strategic priorities and identify operational support needs to execute on those priorities Champion North Star vision and strategic initiatives and lead business-unit adoption across people, process, technology and data Identify Operational and Tech initiatives required to improve employee and customer journeys Partner with IT and UW leaders to define the short- and long-term Ops and Tech roadmap Incorporate SA capabilities into Operations workflows Partner on the Arch Insurance North America (AINA) Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM): Sponsor initiatives Advise on initiative prioritization by providing BU-perspective Bring market insights on leading practices to inform business priorities Execution: Serve as primary liaison between UW and IT and drive value creation from IT investment: Establish OKRs for the BU IT team Own the prioritization of BU IT roadmap Effectively convey vision, define user stories and approve business requirements Coordinate UAT and sign off on releases Facilitate cross-functional transformation efforts by serving as an Initiative Owner Partner with IT to review and provide feedback on IT value generation Engage in cross-functional solution design and problem-solving across IT, Data, SA, and other functions Optimize employee and customer workflows using technology and analytics in collaboration with Process Excellence, IT and SA and other enabling functions as needed Own and drive improvement in the CX/EX journeys; provide input to UI/UX Lead change management for designated business units through a cohesive communication and training strategy. Monitor UW Operations service by tracking performance metrics / SLAs and identifying opportunities for improvement Talent Management: Assist in goal setting and performance evaluation for aligned Digital Product Managers (DPMs) Key Competencies Individual: Ability to discern operational and tech implications of strategic business plans Effective communication of BU strategy and operational plan to stakeholders and operational enablers across the org Ability to partner with underwriting, technology and analytics to deliver solutions that meet customer & business needs Capacity to lead large-scale transformation and change management with a business unit Experience documenting strategic requirements and identifying opportunities to improve customer and employee journeys Team: Cross-functional engagement and alignment with IT, Data, SA, and other business functions Business innovation & optimization Triangulation COE Requirements Excellent written and oral communication and negotiation skills Ability to convey complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences Must demonstrate proficiency in Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills, Communication, Technical, Problem Solving and Service Skills Self-starter demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and adaptability Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Familiarity with Process Mapping and BPMN Certified Scrum Product Owner, preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in related field 10 years' prior experience in Insurance Underwriting or Operations role, at least 3 years supporting Casualty Insurance Experience with medium to large scale technology transformation projects and demonstrated value creation For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible. $145,700 - $196,700/year Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.
