Job Description
Senior Project Manager – Maritime team based in the UK. This role involves delivering medium to large‑scale and complex capital infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally for a variety of clients.
Overview
Lead projects for local authorities, private clients and international port operators across all cargo sectors, including containers, bulk and energy‑transition facilities. Projects may require international travel.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Lead high‑performing project teams across multiple workstreams and engineering disciplines, guiding projects from inception to completion.
* Deliver projects to the agreed success criteria, reporting KPI performance monthly (time, budget, scope, resources, risk, safety and quality).
* Promote WSP culture, maintain high engagement, lead by example and support the personal and professional development of the team.
* Administer, implement and maintain relevant contract and commercial administration systems and project control functions.
* Provide direction and leadership to team members for successful delivery of project responsibilities.
* Coordinate and collaborate between disciplines and stakeholders, minimising silos and safeguarding integrated project delivery.
* Work in a highly inclusive and dynamic environment, building on existing skills and knowledge for career progression.
* Understand Maritime client needs and align technical delivery with client priorities and project constraints.
Qualifications and experience
* Hold chartership status with a professional association or an advanced project, programme or portfolio management qualification (e.g., ChPP, PMP, or equivalent).
* Experience in managing FIDIC / NEC contracts or equivalent, preferably as or having been a Junior Project Manager.
* Experience of capital projects within infrastructure or engineering‑led environments.
* Strong analytical capability, confident working with schedule, risk, cost and performance information.
* Familiarity with lean performance concepts, leading indicators, visual management and continuous improvement.
* First‑hand experience with project management tools across a range of areas (project plan, risk, change, contracts, schedule, requirements, assumptions, performance).
* Continuous opportunity identification and optimisation of project scope, timeline and budget to re‑align with changing client drivers.
* Responsible for delivering at least two large‑scale and complex capital infrastructure projects (over £50 million construction cost) and experience in creating construction contracts for such projects.
