Control Systems Engineer – Slough (Permanent)
We are seeking a skilled and detail‑oriented Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement control systems for automated equipment and machinery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for PLC programming, HMI design, system integration, troubleshooting, and supporting the commissioning of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and test control systems including PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA systems.
* Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and related automation equipment.
* Create control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bill of materials (BOM).
* Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams for system integration.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including functional design specifications, I/O lists, and FAT/SAT protocols.
* Assist in the commissioning and start‑up of automated systems at customer or plant sites.
* Diagnose and resolve control system issues in a timely and effective manner.
* Ensure all systems meet safety and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, NEC, CE).
* Continuously improve system performance and participate in process optimization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related field.
* 2+ years of experience in controls engineering or automation systems.
* Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
* Experience with control system design and troubleshooting.
* Understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with robotics, motion control, or vision systems.
* Knowledge of industry protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
* Familiarity with safety systems (e.g., SIL, functional safety standards).
* Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
