Job summary
We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Ward Manager for Ward F at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The post holder will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience working with patients with mental health issues, complex needs, and a recovery-focused philosophy.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, with potential shift work outside of core hours based on service demand.
Ward F is an acute adult assessment ward providing multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for patients at the early stages of their recovery journey, prior to further treatment within other areas of the mental health services within SBUHB.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the operational, clinical, performance, and governance management of Ward F. This includes managing nursing services and resources, overseeing daily ward functioning, staff management, resource allocation, workforce development, and modernization.
The Ward Manager will lead, coordinate, and contribute to delivering high-quality patient care by setting standards and overseeing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care programs through the nursing and multidisciplinary teams, in line with operational policies.
The Ward Manager will be a subject matter expert, actively involved in staff education, development, appraisal, supervision, and support, including recruitment and retention efforts.
Ensuring nursing care aligns with clinical governance and quality and safety agendas locally, within the service group, and across the wider health board, providing excellent patient care is essential.
Desirable: The ability to speak Welsh is advantageous; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant health-related subject or equivalent experience

* Knowledge of current policies, professional standards, and NHS issues
* Recognized management qualification or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies (e.g., Bronze IQT)
