McKay is seeking a collaborative and commercially aware Business Development Manager to support teams across the lower North Island and South Island, strengthening client relationships and building a sustainable pipeline of work.
This is an enablement focused role, working alongside regional branches and business units to identify opportunities, support growth planning, and enhance client engagement. As a trusted partner, you will bring structure, insight, and coordination to business development activity helping teams win and retain work.
About the Role
Client & Relationship Management
5. Develop a structured Client Relationship Management (CRM) programme
6. Support internal teams to grow and maintain strong client relationships
7. Coordinate relationship strategies for key clients and lead regular reviews to ensure satisfaction
Business Development Planning
8. Partner with internal teams to develop and execute tailored business development plans
9. Balance current revenue streams with future pipeline growth
10. Create compelling capability statements, case studies, and thought leadership content
Market Research & Insight
11. Deliver market insights, benchmarks, and trend analysis (e.g. NPS, CSAT)
12. Identify and recommend opportunities to support forward pipeline planning
CRM & Systems Leadership
13. Be the go-to expert for HubSpot, driving adoption and best practice
14. Deliver CRM training and support across the business
15. Continuously improve systems and ensure data integrity
Reporting & Measurement
16. Track and report on client health, pipeline strength, and BD performance
17. Provide clear, actionable insights to leadership and business units
About you
You are someone who enjoys working alongside operational teams and helping them succeed. You understand business development, but you are equally comfortable in a supporting, coaching, and enabling role rather than being solely responsible for direct sales.
You will also have:
18. Proven experience in business development, client management, or a similar role
19. Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
20. Experience working across multiple teams or business units
21. Confidence with CRM systems (HubSpot experience highly regarded)
22. A data-driven approach to decision making and reporting
