Position: Electrical Engineer Team Lead
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer Team Lead who will work under the direction of the Engineering Manager. The role involves overseeing various engineering projects, managing teams, delivering project solutions, and ensuring all technical specifications are met efficiently.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with estimators, engineering production teams, manufacturing, and site-based installation teams to ensure smooth project execution. Expertise in CAD design, control systems, and project management is required.
Key Requirements
1. HND in an electrical discipline is essential; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.
2. Proven experience (5+ years) in electrical engineering, switchgear, and electrical control system design.
3. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP, SEE Electrical, or similar).
4. Knowledge of BS7671 wiring regulations, BS EN 61439, and IEC standards.
5. Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layouts.
6. Leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor engineers.
7. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
8. Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous.
9. Familiarity with electrical engineering software and tools.
10. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
11. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
12. Attention to detail and commitment to quality; experience with MCC wiring and PLC programming is a plus but not essential.
13. Right to work in the UK.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage the electrical engineering team in designing, developing, and delivering electrical systems.
2. Ensure electrical systems' design and manufacture comply with standards and regulations.
3. Collaborate with estimators on project cost estimates and schedules.
4. Develop and review CAD designs and schematics for electrical LV switchgear.
5. Coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams for effective project translation.
6. Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
7. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
8. Ensure quality assurance and control standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
9. Promote safety, efficiency, and innovation within the team.
10. Engage with clients and stakeholders to meet or exceed expectations.
11. Drive continuous improvement in electrical engineering processes and team performance.
12. Oversee electrical switchgear projects from design to installation and commissioning.
13. Coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers, including organizing FAT & SAT tests.
14. Support sales and manufacturing teams with technical expertise.
15. Produce technical submissions and manuals.
16. Report progress, flag issues, and develop solutions in coordination with the Engineering Manager.
