Overview Of The Role
We have a strong track record in providing flood risk services. Our teams model, design, and deliver flood management schemes globally and work on Nature Based Solutions for flood risk management. We collaborate with Dam Engineers on reservoir flood studies. You will have control of your career path with support for mentoring and training, and opportunities to develop your project management and business development skills while mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities
* Develop hydraulic models (using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and ICM) to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies
* Analyse data using ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and Microsoft Excel
* Produce high quality reports for clients
* Undertake hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP
As part of your role, you will have the opportunity to develop skills in project management and business development, and to mentor and train junior staff. You will be part of the Water Resources and Flooding sub-sector, bringing together expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, climate resilience, hydraulic modelling, flood risk, and related disciplines.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience in delivering flood risk management studies
* Experience using hydraulic modelling software
* Degree-level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline
* Good communication and written skills
* Well organised and able to prioritise workload with minimal supervision
* Understand the importance of health, safety and environmental issues
Desirable
* Professional consultancy experience in flood modelling and flood risk management
* Working towards chartership with a professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, IMA)
* Experience in managing flood risk studies
* Knowledge of flood modelling software (Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS or ICM)
* Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS and Python
