Anexciting opportunity has arisen, for a 18.75 hours band 7 Senior OccupationalTherapist to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Prosthetic Service.
Theregional Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has acomplement of highly skilled consultants, physiotherapists, occupationaltherapists, nurses, clinical psychologists, prosthetists, healthcareassistants and prosthetics technicians who specialise in the treatment ofadults and children amputees.
Thesuccessful applicant must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge of coreoccupational therapy skills and have the knowledge and experience to lead theprosthetic occupational therapy service, whilst being able to workcollaboratively and independently within the multidisciplinary team.
Applicantsmust be able to demonstrate leadership skills to assist in the developmentand growth of this established team, providing clinical knowledge of long term conditions, trainingand supervision to qualified and unqualified staff and also be able toinfluence service improvement at local and regional levels.

Main duties of the job
TheJobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. Thejobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs,the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and thesetting of standards of care.
Thejobholder will provide specialist occupational therapy, treatment and adviceto a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of theprosthetic service. The job holder will have knowledge of the Multi-gripprosthetic hand NHS England Clinical Commissioning policy and ideally haveexperience with the provision of these prosthetics.
Thejob holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and wholeservice working. As a Senior member of the team role they willpromote the sharing of good practice and the delivery of high quality,effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training andeducation to staff groups, patients and families/carers.

Clinical
1. To accept clinical responsibility fora designated caseload of patients and to identify patients who can bedelegated to others.

3. To deliver a service using theOccupational Therapy process (screen referrals, assess and plan treatmentprogrammes, implement and evaluate treatment programmes, monitor and plandischarge) and core skills.
4. To establish capacity, gain validinformed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework withpatients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
5. To assess individual patients, planand carry out effective Occupational Therapy intervention to a highlyspecialist level, in the most appropriate environment taking into accounteach patients individual physical, social and emotional needs.
