Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box.
We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company, now with Sony, and stage giant dance events, including one for over 50,000 people at the O2 during the millennium. We were pioneers in electronic music and have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing.
Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1. The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office. There’s great home cooked F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme.
As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team. We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride.
ABOUT YOU
The Ministry seeks a dynamic Head Chef to elevate our experience within food and beverage.
We value dedication, with a focus on prioritising hands-on expertise to craft extraordinary menus and dishes. You have a full understanding of P&L’s and have an extensive knowledge of margins, cost control, and stock management – profitability is key. You will uphold an organised, pristine, and standard abiding kitchen, meeting all health and safety compliance, allowing us to retain 5 stars.
You will excel in menu development and execution ranging from canapes, seated dinners, working lunches all the way to weddings and corporate events. You'll inspire and empower your team with creativity and culinary finesse. Ideally, you’ll have a have a background in top end restaurants, catering companies or standalone food concepts.
Your passion for food, coupled with unmatched culinary knowledge will allow you to leave your mark on every single dish from concept creation to delivery. You’ll know what is current and trending in the food industry and always be able to lead a development meeting down to the last detail. You'll thrive in nurturing and motivating teams, refining our SOPs, and orchestrating rigorous training and quality control processes, ensuring your team consistently exceeds expectations.
Our member, guest and visitor feedback drives our relentless improvement, you will be quick to champion this and be responsive, taking action to improve our offerings. As well as being a leader in the kitchen and front of house, you’ll be able to proactively respond to emails, champion admin and ensure no stone is left unturned.
You will lead from the front, ensuring our deli offering looks perfect and hold this standard in everything you do with your team. You will be here to lead when required no matter time or day of the week.
