Occupational Therapist (Maternity Cover)
This is a maternity cover role for an Occupational Therapist at Bromley Road, a rehabilitation service for men and women with enduring mental health issues. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering a flexible programme of OT groups and individual interventions to help service users develop new skills and build a brighter future.
Main duties of the job
As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a range of therapeutic interventions and activities, as well as evaluating outcomes aligned to service users' care plans. You will also supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants. The role requires current HPC registration, BOAT membership, knowledge of OT assessments and outcome measures, and experience of working in a similar setting.

As an Occupational Therapist, join the supportive team at Bromley Road in London – a rehabilitation service for men and women with enduring mental health issues – where you will help people with mental health needs to develop new skills and build a brighter future.
You will be working alongside the Occupational Therapy team as maternity cover from 1st August 2025 to 31st July 2026. You will have experience in managing a designated caseload and will be responsible for completing assessments, planning therapeutic sessions, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to service users' care plans.
With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll receive support from a regional network of healthcare professionals and enjoy access to a variety of training courses to support your career goals.
This role involves:
* Facilitating a flexible programme of OT groups and individual interventions.
* Planning and implementing interventions and therapeutic activities.
* Evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
* Supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants.
To be successful in this role:
* Current HPC registration and full BOAT membership with evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Knowledge and use of a range of OT assessments and outcome measures.
* Experience of working within a similar setting.
* BSc (Hons) or equivalent occupational therapy qualification.
* Minimum of 1 year post qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.

84-86 Bromley Road, Catford, London, SE6 2UR. You will work at Bromley Road, a rehabilitation service for men and women with enduring mental health issues, complex needs and complicated addiction problems. We accept service users who have a forensic history and those who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, amended 2007. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver positive support and risk reduction strategies, as well as providing opportunities for social inclusion and building skills for independent living.
