Overview
A certified nurse or paramedic will work in collaboration with the Police to provide healthcare to detainees in custody suites. You will deliver high‑quality care, work under pressure, and manage diverse clinical situations in a high‑risk environment. The role includes flexible shift work across the Police custody suite region.
Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical care to detainees in custody suites.
- Ensure the safety of detainees with round‑the‑clock coverage according to an agreed schedule.
- Work across an assigned police custody suite region in addition to your base suite.
- Follow the fixed shift rota pattern (4 shifts on, 4 days off; 2‑day shifts 06:45‑19:00 and 2‑night shifts 18:45‑07:00; rolling rota available 2 years in advance).
- Maintain high standards of clinical care and teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN), Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) with dual registration – minimum 2 years post‑qualification, Band 5 minimum.
- Registered Paramedic – minimum 2 years post‑qualification.
- At least two years of post‑qualification experience in a patient‑facing role within A&E, General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service.
- Driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK – British passport or ILR for at least 3 years with gaps abroad no longer than 3 months.
- Eligibility for police vetting.
- Continuing NMC/HCPC registration (paid by employer).
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £41,000 per year.
- £1,000 bonus upon completion of 12 months of service.
- Estimated overtime: £3,500 per annum.
