Education and Academic Support – Wellbeing Services

We are seeking to appoint a professional Welfare Pathway Lead as part of the University’s Welfare service and Out-of-Hours (OOH) service for students.

This role is available on a full time, permanent basis from the 20th of April 2026.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

This position attracts a market supplement of £4000.

About the role

This post plays a key part in the University's offering of pastoral and welfare support for students. You will act as the lead practitioner, providing first response for students experiencing personal problems and difficulties, and will coordinate a response and provide support which is tailored to individual students' needs, signposting and referring to specialist support. This will include responding to mental health crises, liaising with other University staff and external agencies as appropriate.

You will lead the Welfare team in their practice and will report to the Wellbeing Operations manager. Your work will involve extensive networking and liaison with individuals in student residences, security services, academic Colleges and across a range of other services including NHS provision. In addition to working directly with students, you will lead and support a team of practitioners - and will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

About you

We are seeking a candidate who can combine exceptional interpersonal skills, a resilient attitude and a practical, solution‑focused approach. In return we will provide an exciting, varied and rewarding role within a dynamic and supportive team, committed to providing the best possible experience for our students.

This post requires the postholder to work some daytime and evenings, as well as alternate weekends. This is a full‑time post and you will be campus based.

Please note that this post will be subject to a clear DBS check.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role by clicking on the attachment above.
