Hours: 36 Hours per week (3 x 12 hour shifts) 10:00-22:00 or 22:00-10:00. Shifts can be discussed at interview stage.
Hourly Rate of Pay: £15.00 PH
Based at: Telford, TF2

Job Purpose
To support a 30-year-old gentleman who lives at home with his mum and their dogs in Telford. The family are seeking a new personal care assistant to provide support both at home and in the community and join their existing team of PA’s. The gentleman is a wheelchair user, has neurodegenerative mitochondrial disease and is registered blind, epileptic, as well as other health care conditions. He enjoys listening to music and audio books as well as attending theatres and music concerts. He is friendly, sociable and enjoys keeping busy. The role involves not only practical care and assistance but also encouraging and enabling him to maintain his independence, pursue his interests and stay actively engaged in the activities he enjoys. A supportive, patient and positive approach will help him to feel confident and motivated in his day-to-day life.
Main duties
* Personal care: Support with all aspects of personal care including catheter care, washing, dressing and maintaining dignity and comfort at all times.
* Mobility: Support with transfers using a hoist safely in line with training and guidance. Support with safe use of his wheelchair at home and in the community.
* Nutrition & Medication: Assist with PEG feeding whilst also supporting him to enjoy some soft foods. Preparing drinks and encouraging regular fluid intake which is taken orally. Preparing, administering, and recording medications.
* Domestic duties: Support with domestic duties around the home, preparing meals and drinks.
* Perform any other duties that are of a reasonable request.
* All training will be provided.
Person Specification
* A driver is essential and must be confident to drive the employer’s vehicle.
* Be patient and supportive.
* Be a dog lover and support the employer to look after his dogs.
* Be honest, reliable, and trustworthy.
* Be respectful of the gentleman’s dignity, at all times.
* Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.
* You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
* Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and raise any concerns immediately.
* A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
