What will the role look like?
The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate previous experience in delivering environmental management support to construction projects. You will be able to provide technical expertise in managing environmental risks and opportunities and leadership support to projects, serving both the design and project delivery teams.
Champion the implementation of the business sustainability strategy and develop and monitor project commitments.
1. Assure compliance with the LOR Energy and Environmental Management System on the project.
2. Provide technical advice and support to the project, client, and contractors to identify and implement effective environmental management procedures and identify opportunities to implement best practice.
3. Support our project teams to embed our client's and our sustainability requirements within the project.
4. Review, advise, and deliver environmental training required for project staff and operatives.
5. Engage with the workforce around environmental issues.
6. Effectively engage with clients and internal/external stakeholders.
7. Ensure innovation and best practice are developed, implemented to address environmental issues and learning shared.
8. Liaise with the appropriate statutory bodies on behalf of the project, obtain relevant consents to facilitate the works and maintain compliance with these.
9. Monitor environmental performance and undertake inspections of the project on a regular basis.
10. Promote the reduction of energy use and carbon emissions.
11. Coordinate the delivery of environmental deliverables on the projects.
12. Support the business in driving our ambitions to push the boundaries of sustainability, helping us to achieve our ambition to be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
High level of personal drive and commitment, with effective goal setting ability. Be capable of meeting deadlines and prioritizing activities. Able to take strategic views of the environmental requirements and agree and implement resultant plans. Positive approach to the challenges of change, help others to become receptive and responsive to change. Be technically familiar with an extensive range of environmental processes and procedures. Logical and well-organized with the ability to prioritize. Ability to communicate effectively at all management levels and to build and maintain good working relationships. Understanding of the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO50001 and management of compliance with Management Systems. Experience in the delivery of BREEAM or similar sustainability assessment schemes.
Qualifications:
* Lead Environmental Auditor Role
* Membership of IEMA, IES, or IEEM (minimum of practitioner or equivalent desired)
* Relevant undergraduate degree in Environmental management, sustainability, environmental sciences, or similar
* BREEAM AP
