Job Description
Lead Engineer CFD - Our client is at the forefront of innovative Marine engineering, specialising in the design, optimisation, and supply of decarbonisation solutions for the maritime industry. With expertise in wing propulsion, foiling, and flight control systems, they are leading the sustainability revolution within the maritime and shipping industry. Their initiatives include reducing fuel consumption on ocean-going ships through sail technology and advanced efficiency optimisation methods, and enabling marine electrification with foiling and FOSS solutions. They are seeking a Lead Engineer in CFD to join their team, oversee CFD activities, and contribute to the design of current and future projects.
Working alongside industry-leading experts, you will take ownership of designing aerodynamic devices, hydrofoils, and hull forms.
Lead Engineer CFD Role:
1. Plan and oversee all CFD work, from performance evaluation to design optimisation.
2. Conduct concept designs and review others' concepts.
3. Identify performance improvement opportunities within project constraints.
4. Ensure best CFD practices are applied.
5. Stay updated with CFD technologies and analysis methodologies.
6. Define the team’s technical roadmap.
7. Innovate to enhance CFD simulation and data analysis capabilities.
8. Ensure work meets standards and is completed on time.
9. Mentor and guide junior team members.
Lead Engineer CFD Requirements:
* Master’s or PhD Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering focusing on numerical methods.
* Significant experience in hydrodynamics for hulls and foils, and aerodynamics.
* Experience with Siemens Star-CCM+ CFD software and Siemens NX CAD software.
* Understanding of hydrodynamic design principles for hulls and hydrofoils, and aerodynamic design of wings.
* Proficiency in Python and Java.
* Knowledge of optimisation techniques.
* Proven track record in delivering complex projects in fast-paced environments.
* Ability to innovate and advance CFD technology.
* Openness to learning new tools and methodologies.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
* Leadership and mentorship abilities.
