Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join Berkley Offshore’s Renewables Team. This role is for an Assistant underwriter looking to take the next step in their underwriting career and offers amazing progression to Underwriter (and eventually Senior Underwriter) once you are established within the business and delivering excellent performance. Objective of the role is to offer consistent quality service, deliver satisfactory and profitable results for the company, whilst developing good business relationships.
Berkley Offshore underwrite a worldwide portfolio of onshore renewables and work closely with an MGA who specialise and lead a global book of offshore wind projects. There is opportunity to learn about multiple renewable technologies and as the business continues to grow, there will be many opportunities to get involved in exciting projects, expanding your skills along the way, and giving you the ability to grow within your role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Developing excellent relationships with new and existing brokers.
2. Dealing with renewals and mid-term adjustments in line with agreed Underwriting Authority.
3. Assisting with underwriting of new business enquiries.
4. To ensure that all business written complies with Berkley Offshore’s internal policies and procedures and that these are understood.
5. Ensuring accurate policy documentation issued to brokers.
6. To ensure that complete and accurate underwriting records are maintained.
7. Visiting Brokers as required to develop business and maintain existing book/cross-selling company's products.
8. Producing monthly reports for renewals and provide accurate analysis.
9. Ensure that there is a highly effective working relationship with other underwriting and support units within Berkley Offshore.
Qualifications
Requirements:
10. Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
11. Excellent understanding and knowledge of the insurance industry.
12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
13. Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
14. Excellent communications and negotiation skills.
15. Working towards ACII
16. MS Office skills such as Word, Power BI, Excel and PPT etc.
