HOURS: 37 ½ hours per wk - Mon – Thurs 0815 – 1700/ Fri 0815 – 1245

About the role:
Reporting to the Wiring Supervisor, the Wire Person will be responsible for wiring a range of intricate world class products.
Excellent Soldering skills and attention to detail is required to ensure the equipment is manufactured to the highest industry standards.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
* Working as part of the Wiring Team but also required to work and communicate with other departments during production such as Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Engineering.
* Opportunity to travel overseas (on occasions) to support FSE department, which is optional.
* Working in a modern manufacturing facility
* Pressurised role working to tight time schedules.
The main responsibilities will include:
* Wiring harnesses, cable assemblies and sub-assemblies
* Be competent in wiring of cabinets and installing/connecting wiring harnesses into assembled units
* Receive work instructions from your Supervisor and ensure your time is booked to the correct cost code using the company’s ERP system
* Any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the role.
About the person:
To be a successful candidate for this role you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets:
Essential:
* Completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Wire Person or equivalent experience gained through previous employment.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schedules, and circuit diagrams.
* A strong team player with the ability to use your own initiative when required.
* Demonstrates the aptitude to consistently deliver workmanship to the highest industry standards.
* Committed to working in a safe and orderly manner, ensuring full compliance with company Health & Safety requirements.
* Able to work at an efficient pace to meet production deadlines without compromising safety or quality standards.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently when required.
* Willing to support the development of others and undertake training as needed.
Desirable:
* Educated to a minimum of NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in a relevant discipline.
* Proficient in soldering, crimping, lacing, and splicing techniques.
* Familiar with a range of Mil-Spec connectors, cable identification methods, and cable assembly techniques.
* Awareness of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling requirements.
* Experience in PCB assembly (desirable but not essential).
* Experience of working within the Defence industry.
