Are you eager to make a difference in wildlife conservation and care? Join the Cornish Seal Sanctuary as a Trainee Animal Care Specialist and get hands‑on experience in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of grey seal pups and other marine life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with daily animal husbandry and the care of resident wildlife, including seal pups and marine mammals.
* Contribute to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release efforts for grey seal pups in distress.
* Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of animal enclosures, plant systems and life support equipment.
* Educate the public on the importance of wildlife conservation and the animals in our care.
* Support the team with husbandry training, enrichment, and the development of animal welfare protocols.
What you’ll gain:

This is a full‑time, 12‑month contracted role with the potential to move into an Animal Care Specialist role. This will include working weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in animal care or wildlife rehab (paid or voluntary)
* Studying towards or holding an animal‑related qualification
* Confident with animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning and welfare checks
* Strong team player with a proactive attitude
* Good communicator, comfortable engaging with the public
* Basic understanding of life support systems or willing to learnFlexible with hours and happy to work outdoors in all weathers
* Passionate about conservation and sustainability
* Must live within 20 minutes of the centre
