We have an exciting opportunity for an operations and maintenance joiner.
We are looking for a building maintenance joiner/carpenter to join our Estates team with general carpentry experience, including maintenance of fire doors. The ideal candidate should have completed a recognized carpentry apprenticeship and possess extensive experience in general buildings or NHS properties, with a BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds qualification, along with relevant post-apprenticeship training or equivalent experience. You should demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Willingness to work outside of your comfort zone is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, installation, modification, and repairs to hospital fabric, including external doors, fire doors, access doors, windows (wooden, plastic, aluminium), flooring, suspended ceilings, walls, fireproofing, electrical and mechanical closers.
2. Maintaining various types of locks and locking mechanisms, signage, fencing, fixtures, glass, and glazing.
3. Maintaining internal and external decorations and ensuring cleanliness of fabric and equipment.
4. Manufacturing, assembling, and erecting new work such as shelving, display systems, doors, frames, screens, and partitions, with speed and accuracy.
5. Using relevant power and hand tools, fixed machinery, and fire tools, and maintaining them properly.
6. Interpreting and working from instructions, drawings, and specifications independently, and advising on updates to drawings following new works.
7. Understanding the workings of related trades, and working safely in environments with heat, noise, body fluids, chemicals, sewage, and heavy lifting.
