The Digital Transformation team within Network Rail Training is developing blended learning solutions that includes digital simulations, new technology systems and ways of working. Enabling our Network Rail colleagues gain and retain skills using the latest technology, allowing for more flexibility and improved learning outcomes for learners. The team is currently developing and delivering several digital solutions and is surrounded by development and implementation of the latest technology.
As a Scheme Project Manager, you will play a vital role in successful project delivery. You will lead projects and workstreams within NR Training’s Digital Transformation Portfolio. This includes creating and owning project documentation, owning RAID logs and project plans, reporting to senior stakeholders and collaborating with cross functional teams to mitigate and manage interdependencies.
About the role (External)
The Scheme Project Manager will be responsible for the safe, timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of individual projects or project components. The role requires adherence to Network Rail standards, industry regulations, and best practices for project management.
What the role could look like
·Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of digital projects and workstreams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder requirements.
·Utilise Agile, Scrum, or other digital project management methodologies to drive efficiency and adaptability in project execution.
·Support the development and implementation of digital solutions, including software applications, learning platforms, across the wider Digital Transformation Portfolio.
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including suppliers, project management office, and in house technical teams to ensure project milestones are met.
·Own project documentation, including RAID logs, project plans and governance documentation.
·Lead project management meetings with cross functional stakeholders to drive projects forward.
·Monitor and manage project risks, providing proactive solutions to address technical and operational challenges through collaborating with other workstreams across the programme.
·Deliver regular progress reports, updates, and presentations to key stakeholders and senior management.
·Capture, document, and disseminate lessons learned to improve future digital project performance.
An ideal candidate would have:
·Proven experience in delivering technology-oriented projects, preferably within the training technology or railway sectors.
·Experience with agile and waterfall methodologies.
·Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.
·Proven experience owning key project documentation, such as RAID logs, project plans and governance documentation.
It would also be beneficial to have:
·Experience in managing software development, digital learning platforms, or SaaS solutions.
·Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge.
