Job summary
Based in the Hearing and Balance Centre at Royal Stoke Hospital, your role will involve supporting the team to provide high quality paediatric care by preparing and delivering paediatric audiology clinics, involving both clinical and administrative tasks. It is anticipated that training will be required to fulfil the role successfully and this training will be provided both in-house and externally. A candidate with an eagerness to pursue an apprenticeship would therefore be ideally suited to this post. Excellent communication skills are essential as the role involves liaising directly with families, teachers of the deaf and other professionals regarding clinical information.

Key responsibilities
* Serve as an assistant in paediatric audiological assessment and rehabilitation, actively engaging with children to support successful outcomes.
* Ensure appropriate patient preparation for the audiologist to perform audiological procedures.
* Meet and greet patients and families and escort them to the clinic room.
* Lead hearing aid repair clinics for both adults and children.
* Assist the audiologist with stage A daily calibration checks of audiological equipment.
* Report any equipment faults or damage as per local procedures.
* Maintain infection control within department protocols and keep the area clean, safe and tidy, adhering to trust environmental audit and departmental processes.
* Ensure clear, concise recording of patient results and outcomes following local protocol.
Person specification and qualifications

* Previous experience of working with pre-school children
* Educated to GCSE Level or Level 2 equivalent
* Previous experience of working with the general public

* NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development or equivalent
* Holds a care certificate
