As a business we're growing, and our national Property Disputes practice is contributing to that through some exciting new client wins. We now have an opportunity for a 5+ PQE lawyer to join the team.
What will you be doing?
Our retail practice is one of the largest nationally and is expanding. We have an enviable client list, made up of landlords and tenants (with national portfolios), developers and investors, ranging from significant public sector bodies to FTSE 250 household names across sectors including telecoms, retail, energy, and central and local government, transport, and infrastructure.
You'll play an important role in helping us grow our retail practice, assisting in a wide range of contentious commercial property matters, including telecoms, landlord and tenant issues (e.g., 1954 Act renewals, dilapidations, break notices), and general property issues such as adverse possession, easements, and title disputes. The team is extremely busy, so you'll be able to get involved in high-quality client work immediately, both as a principal fee earner and supervising others. The Property Disputes Team works closely with our transactional Real Estate team, providing opportunities to develop strong ties across the practice. You'll be supported by a close-knit, friendly team with a collegiate approach and a firm-wide commitment to development.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
Most importantly, you will have a genuine enthusiasm for this area of law and the aspiration to deliver a first-class service to our clients.
You will need strong academic ability, a thorough approach to complex legal analysis, and the ability to quickly understand complicated sets of facts. Your written advice will be fluent and concise, and your high level of commercial awareness will enable you to address the client's overall objectives. Strong interpersonal skills will allow you to deal diplomatically and effectively with our clients' different interests.
Equally important is the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across locations, as some work involves multi-disciplinary teams. This is an exciting time to join this team, offering an unrivaled opportunity to learn from the best and develop a career in a growing specialism.
To be successful in this role, you will need at minimum:
* 5+ years' experience in property litigation
* In-depth knowledge of Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 renewals (both unopposed and opposed), ideally in managing a large property portfolio
* A proven track record in supervising junior colleagues
