Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location – Cumbria based 1 day a week and 3 – 4 days a week WFH. Open to applicants who only want to commute fortnightly also.
Basic: £70,000 - £85,000 plus package
The company will put you through SC Clearance so please make sure you meet the requirements of this (No criminal convictions/full right to work in the UK)
About the Opportunity:
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you would be responsible for supporting the Commercial Manager in delivering the Contract Management Plans and maintaining the relationship with the Client, Contractors/Subcontractors, Suppliers or Service Providers for the relevant contracts. This would include the administration of the contract Risk Register, attending Risk Reduction and other Meetings, managing the Early Warning Notice and Compensation Event processes. All contracts will be managed in accordance with the Management System and procedures for contract management. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance to procedures and Contract Terms and Conditions to secure delivery with certainty.
* Supporting the Commercial Manager in the day to day management of a portfolio of Contracts, providing robust and accurate data to feed into internal and external financial and progress reporting;
* Managing change management process, Early Warnings, Compensation Events, PMI’s etc. via CEMAR and Contract Administration Trackers in a timely manner;
* Preparation of tender documents as required by procurement choice (including Bills of Quantities) in addition to tender analysis and production of RFQs to support procurement activity;
* Measuring project performance specifically Key Performance Indicators and Incentivisation arrangements;
* Support to Project Managers/Project Engineers in resolving commercial issues with the Client;
* Ensure all procurement and governance processes are adhered to within the designated projects and the correct levels of authority are applied to SMR’s for the procurement of goods, services, consumables and sub-contracts;
* Use procurement plan to interact with Commercial Manager to agree forms of contract and procurement activities to leverage best outcome for the business;
* Contract mobilisation and managing Sub-Contractor relationships as required to deliver the contract requirements.
Qualifications - External
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or other relevant qualification with previous experience in a similar role;
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are required along with good negotiation and analytical skills;
* Extensive working knowledge of the NEC 3 & 4 contracts specifically as well as contract management tools such as CEMAR;
* Comprehensive understanding of planning methodology, cost forecasting and reporting, cost control, cost risk management, contract documentation preparation and contract administration;
* Exceptional commercial awareness with both pre and post contract knowledge;
* Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail;
* Ability to work flexibly and autonomously under pressure;
* Positive work ethic and can-do attitude with excellent stakeholder management experience.
