Due to increased project workload, an established engineering business in Warwickshire is looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its experienced design team. This role is primarily office based.
Salary to around 60K!!! Lots great of benefits - Big company
đź•’ Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 4.45pm | Friday 8.15am to 3.45pm
Some flexibility on hours and occasional home working where needed
The Engineering Department undertakes diverse and technically challenging work, covering the design, manufacture and repair of complex rotating machinery. Projects are typically centred around large-scale power generation equipment, meaning heavy-duty machines, serious mechanical considerations, and engineering that truly matters.
If you enjoy solving real mechanical problems rather than simply pressing “analyse” and hoping for the best, this could be exactly what you are looking for.
The Role
You will play a key role within the design team, contributing to the mechanical design of large and often highly complex machines. Work will involve both new designs and the repair or upgrade of existing equipment.
This is not a role for someone who relies purely on software output. They are looking for an engineer who understands the fundamentals first.
You will:
*
Carry out engineering calculations, considering forces, stresses, bending moments and load paths before moving into simulation
*
Use FEA as a validation tool, not a substitute for engineering judgement
*
Interpret and challenge analysis results rather than simply trusting the screen
*
Support design for manufacture and repair of large rotating equipment
*
Work closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and service teams
*
Contribute to technically demanding projects within the power generation sector
They are not seeking someone who can recite equations from memory. They want someone who understands what needs to be calculated, can source the appropriate methods, complete the work thoroughly, and then use FEA to sense-check and refine the outcome.
What They Are Looking For
*
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
*
Strong grounding in mechanical engineering fundamentals
*
Experience designing large rotating machinery such as generators, motors, turbines or similar heavy equipment
*
Good understanding of stress analysis, structural behaviour and mechanical loading
*
Practical, hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving ability
*
Comfortable working in a primarily office-based environment with some flexibility
*
You must have Permanent right to work in the UK - security clearance will be necessary
Why Consider This Role?
*
Work on large-scale power generation equipment
*
Technically challenging and varied projects
*
Early Friday finish every week
*
Stable business with a strong project pipeline
*
A role where engineering judgement is genuinely valued
If you’re an engineer who still likes to think before modelling and enjoys working on heavy-duty machinery, this is a genuinely interesting opportunity offering excellent benefits. APPLY NOW we will be happy to recommend you
