This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key component of this role is the continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Review Health Risk Assessments with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to identify hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and necessary exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring, e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases
* Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and risk assessment scores
* Noise Management and exposure assessments
* Vibration Management and exposure assessments
* Ionising and non-ionising radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessment
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould, spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance.
• Conduct inspections and audits across operational sites, including onshore support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health and hygiene standards, including accommodation, welfare, and food prep areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* A BOHS-accredited degree or
* A combination of BOHS W & P modules
* At least 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
* Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks, influencing management and workforce.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and diverse mediums.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
