NHS Dumfries & Galloway is delighted to invite applications for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Adult SLT team. This exciting opportunity involves working across both acute (inpatient and outpatient) and community settings—including community hospitals, care homes, and other domiciliary environments—to provide speech and language therapy to adults presenting with communication and/or swallowing disorders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work across acute inpatient/outpatient and community settings, including community hospitals, care homes, and domiciliary environments.
* Provide speech and language therapy to adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders across clinical specialties: Stroke, Medical, Neurology, Care of the Elderly, ENT, and Respiratory.
* Deliver videofluoroscopy (VFSS) clinics and Joint ENT–SLT Voice Clinics.
* Participate in clinical supervision, line management, team meetings, operational updates, and the departmental clinical research review group.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
* Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist (NHS).
* Current driving licence is essential; alternative transport arrangements may be considered if a medical condition applies.
* New graduates are encouraged to participate in the NHS Flying Start programme and will complete their SLT NQP preceptorship within the first year.
* Full UK registration with the appropriate council (e.g., NMC, HCPC, GMC, GDC) is required for roles that necessitate professional registration.
* Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (appropriate right to work or visa) must be verified.
