Job Description:
Hays Education is looking for a Teaching Assistant who specializes in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues to work in a provision near Melton Mowbray for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. This role is term-time only and can be full-time or part-time. You'll initially join the team on a temporary basis with the opportunity to progress to a permanent position for the right candidate. If you have experience supporting vulnerable young people and would like to work in this rural setting - we'd love to hear from you!
Your new school
You'll be working in a specialist independent school for young people with trauma, mental health, behavior, and attachment needs. The provision is set in the picturesque Vale of Belvoir where local woodland and farming traditions are used as tools to enhance learning and pupil well-being. The school adopts a therapeutic approach focusing on play, curiosity, and empathy, supported by a team of dedicated, specialist staff who are eager to welcome you.
Your new role
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll mentor pupils throughout their school day: managing behavior in the classroom and supporting during transition times. You'll have the privilege of being a positive role model and offering 1:1 support for individuals needing guidance. The pupils you support will have additional needs including SEMH, ASD, and ADHD. Hays Teaching Assistants make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with diverse care needs and personalities, making every day different!
What you need to succeed
To succeed, you’ll have experience working with vulnerable young people, ideally in an educational setting or as a mentor/coach.
