The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a connected, national team, working and learning collaboratively.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both domestically and cross-border.
* National Markets: We operate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds, investing in key sectors to grow local economies.
The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn. We assist clients in understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving advice across multiple countries and taxes.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver outstanding advice
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, including proposals and pitches
* Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory
* Serve as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams to ensure effective delivery
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically evaluating their input
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
* Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, and interested in transactions
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Robust UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
* Excellent project management, teamwork, and initiative
* Proactive in developing business opportunities
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Leadership and coaching skills
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
