Family Legal Aid Solicitor
Location: Crewe
Salary: Dependent on Experience (DOE) + Open on PQE
Your Role:As a solicitor withinmy clients family team, you will engage in fee earning work, uphold the firm's image and ethos, and adhere to compliance and quality standards. You must be willing to work across all four oftheir offices occasionally.
Responsibilities:
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure full compliance with the Solicitors Act, Solicitors’ Accounts Rules, Trustee Accounts Rules, and other statutory and Law Society regulations.
Case Management: Handle a variety of cases, including divorce, private children matters, non-molestation orders, and financial relief, from initial stages through to resolution.
Court Appearances: Attend court for directions hearings, first appointments, and financial dispute resolution appointments.
Client Interaction: Take instructions, draft documents and letters, conduct matters on behalf of clients, and collaborate effectively as part of the team.
Legal Aid: Prepare Legal Aid applications and liaise with the Legal Aid Agency as necessary.
Target Achievement: Meet personal targets for fee income and recording chargeable time, and assist in expanding the firm's service offerings.
Marketing and Business Development: Participate in marketing activities and assist in promoting the firm’s client services.
Advocacy and Drafting: Provide experienced advocacy services and proficiently draft necessary legal documents.
Person Specification – Key Skills/Qualifications:
Client Care: Demonstrate high-level knowledge and excellent client care skills.
Legal Aid Proficiency: Proficient in charging for services, knowledgeable of legal aid eligibility criteria, and conversant with legal aid rules.
Communication Skills: Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a broad range of clients and deliver high standards of client care.
Interpersonal and Marketing Skills: Display outstanding interpersonal and marketing skills, with the ability to develop contacts for the firm.
Decision Making and Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and make strong decisions.
Advocacy Experience: Experienced in advocacy with a keen interest in developing a private caseload.
Specialized Knowledge: Skilled in handling private children matters, domestic abuse cases, divorce, and financial matters within divorce. Experience in Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (TOLATA) is advantageous.
Drafting Experience: Proficient in drafting legal documents.
Self-Motivation: Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
