JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the complete upkeep and smooth functioning of the laundry department. The laundry attendant should possess knowledge of all equipment and how it operates. The position also works closely with Housekeeping and Patient Care Assistants to ensure proper inventory levels are supplied to the floors in a timely and efficient manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Formulates washing formula for stained and soiled loads of patients' personal laundry and all other laundry, e.g., linens.
* Sorts dirty patient clothes and linen by product type.
* Ensures the washing of clothing and linen is up to standard before placing into inventory.
* Communicates any maintenance and upkeep issues related to laundry equipment to the appropriate personnel.
* Suggests methods for increasing laundry efficiency.
* Organizes and sorts patients’ clothes and linen by type, loading on carts or placing in bags, then returning to patient rooms or neatly storing on linen racks.
* Main duties include folding clothing, linen, and terry cloth items neatly.
* Works in a fast-paced environment with strict timing deadlines related to production standards and requirements.
* Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Demonstrates a positive attitude with an outgoing and friendly personality towards clients and staff.
* Multitasks with clothing and linen across multiple machines operating simultaneously.
* Ensures linen availability for client floors, maintaining no shortages in storage areas.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* A secondary school diploma is preferred.
Physical:
* Requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds. May also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling during duties.
Experience:
* Previous laundry or dry cleaning experience preferred, especially in a clinical or facility setting.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
* Physical mobility and stamina.
* Ability to follow instructions.
* Detail-oriented with a professional attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations objectively and consistently.
* Ability to tolerate patients with medical or behavioral issues and take directions from multiple individuals during a shift.
