Overview
Process Operator role at Yorkshire Water. Location: opportunities to join the Process team at Yorkshire Water with sites in and around the York, Malton, and Pickering areas. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of the above areas.
What You’ll Do
* Reacting to RTS alarms and pollution incidents
* Gathering evidence at suspected pollution incidents
* Lifting, checking, and unblocking pumps
* Taking samples, examining results, and trouble-shooting issues affecting sample results
* Raising follow-on work for internal support services
What You Need
* Full training on mandatory courses will be provided; company van, tools, Toughbook, mobile phone, sat nav and corporate clothing provided
* Practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors in all weathers, hands-on approach
* Ability to work alone and in a team; strong time management and workload handling
* Willingness to question unsafe practices and report them to management
* Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication and positive attitude
* Experience using IT systems (e.g., Word); capturing site information on a Toughbook
* Full valid UK driving licence required (no more than 6 points)
Note: This role involves occasional work in confined spaces; successful candidates must complete a medical with our Occupational Health Department and pass related criteria (BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, Spirometry).

Working Pattern
Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00–18:00. Out-of-hours, weekend working and bank holidays may be required as part of a structured pattern. After training, you will be assessed for working independently and may participate in an out-of-hours standby rota (evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts). Some weekend work is required; flexibility outside core hours is essential.
