Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to support the Pacing Service at the Countess of Chester Hospital undertaking routine, complex and specialised procedures including accurate reporting to support clinical decisions. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The successful applicant will work as part of a team, reporting to the clinical lead and will provide supervision, training and support for more junior staff. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of the wider Cardiology service at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.


Responsibilities

* Provide a comprehensive service for diagnostic investigations (including pacing and Cardiac Catheters) undertaking routine, complex and specialised procedures providing and recording accurate results.
* Support patients throughout tests, including positioning sensors and explaining the need for positioning; assist less mobile or frail patients into correct body positions for tests to be carried out as effectively as possible.
* Provide a technician-led diagnostic service for GP referrals; submit an autonomous report directly to the GP with recommendations for client care and oversee this for junior staff.
* Report autonomously on specialised tests for all consultant teams.
* Be the lead physiologist responsible for cardiac patients undergoing diagnostic investigations that could evoke adverse reactions.
* Provide a permanent pacemaker and implantable loop recorder follow-up appointments for patients.
* Administration of medicine on Patient Group Directives as required.
* Reporting without medical input on complex diagnostic investigations unless a Cardiology opinion is deemed necessary.
* Responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment and the safety of patients and staff within the department.
* Ensure adequate levels and rotation of stock is undertaken.


About the Trust

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust collaborates within the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership and operates from three locations:

* The Countess of Chester Hospital: 438 general and acute beds.
* Ellesmere Port Hospital: 56 beds for rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient services.
* Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services serving the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 5,916 staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000.
