GEOSPATIAL DATA SCIENTIST ROLE (Junior & Senior)
Overview:
BirdsEyeView is an InsurTech venture based in London. They build Natural Catastrophe Modelling software for reinsurance and insurers globally, enabling them to model floods, wildfires, cyclones, and more.
Their technology ecosystem includes climate data infrastructure, scalable product development, and machine learning data cleansing and ingestion, helping underwriters assess climate-change-induced risks.
About the role
You will support the development of Natural Peril models and their integration into the WEATHER ANALYTIX platform, which provides climate and weather analytics for insurance partners.
You will work with a team of scientists, developers, and insurance experts, impacting business applications and product development. This role is ideal for someone interested in climate and geospatial data, new technologies, and the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support the strategy and implementation of the WEATHER ANALYTIX platform.
* Process meteorological datasets via partnerships (e.g., European Space Agency).
* Develop models for wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, earthquakes, and floods.
* Collaborate with Business Development to define and deliver new products.
* Select and implement suitable technology solutions.
* Qualifications: Bachelor's in CS, Stats, Physics or related; Master's preferred.
* Experience: 2+ years for Jnr/Mid, 4+ years for Mid/Snr roles.
* Proficiency in Python, experience with geospatial data, statistical modeling, web systems.
* Ability to work independently with good project management skills.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, GitLab, AWS, ERA5 data, MLOps, insurance markets.
