Summary
* This position is for a Residential Support Worker (Casual) on a 2-3 month contract with a local authority. The role involves working as part of a team at Orient Street Short Breaks, providing support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and associated physical disabilities. The facility is registered with the Care Quality Commission and offers five beds for adults. The role is crucial in creating a safe, caring, and stimulating environment that promotes the well-being and rights of those supported.
Responsibilities
* Provide a person-centered, safe, and engaging environment.
* Support individuals in developing skills, independence, and social connections.
* Assist in emergency placements and crisis situations.
* Deliver high-standard, evidence-based, and outcome-focused support.
* Ensure a person-centered approach in accordance with individual support plans.
* Provide personal care, including assistance with washing, dressing, eating, and toileting.
* Perform manual handling duties as required.
* Assist with domestic duties such as cleaning, meal preparation, and home management.
Experience
* Experience working with adults with learning difficulties in a residential setting.
* Experience providing personal care and managing behaviours of concern.
* Experience in safeguarding and integrated team working.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of learning disabilities, autism, and related behaviours.
* Understanding of legislation and statutory guidance related to adults and safeguarding.
* Familiarity with on-call procedures and regulatory reporting requirements.
Additional Information
* Working hours: 20 hours per week.
* Day shifts: 7 AM to 3 PM or 2 PM to 10 PM, with a 48-minute break.
* Waking night shifts: 9:30 PM to 7:30 AM, with a one-hour break.
* Shifts are assigned on an ad hoc basis, with potential for up to 36 hours per week over 12 weeks.
* Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child & Adult) required.

The staff member will be given shifts on an ad hoc basis some times these will be more in frequent other times the shifts may be for 36 hours a week for a period of 12 weeks dependent on need. The post will be working as a part of a team of in-house staff providing support at Orient Street Short Breaks (respite) adults with learning disabilities and autism (and associated physical disabilities).
