About the role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced H&S Advisor to join a successful and well established organisation within the construction and civil engineering sector. This H&S Advisor position will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high health and safety standards across multiple active construction and infrastructure sites.
The successful H&S Advisor will work closely with site teams, supervisors, and senior management to ensure full compliance with UK health and safety legislation while promoting a strong and positive safety culture. This H&S Advisor role requires a proactive individual who is confident working across several sites, conducting inspections, and supporting continuous improvement of health and safety systems.
Regular travel between sites will be a key part of this H&S Advisor position, providing the opportunity to work on a variety of construction and civil engineering projects. The H&S Advisor will act as a trusted source of guidance for site teams, helping to maintain safe working environments and drive best practice throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities
• Provide competent health and safety advice to site managers, supervisors, and directors
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits across multiple construction and civil engineering projects
• Support compliance with current UK legislation including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015
• Assist with the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations
• Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to safety briefings and training sessions
• Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, records, and reporting systems
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with company health and safety standards
• Support external audits and client inspections
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the organisation’s health and safety management systems
Skills and experience required
Essential
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Previous experience working as a H&S Advisor within a construction or civil engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and incident investigations
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
• Full UK driving licence
Desirable
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Membership of IOSH such as TechIOSH or above
• Experience working on groundworks or infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 health and safety management systems
