Civil Field Engineer
Location: Didcot
Employment Type: Contract – Outside IR35 (site-based)

Role Overview
We are seeking a Civil Field Engineer to oversee and assure the quality of civil activities on a major infrastructure project. The successful candidate will ensure all civil works are executed in line with National Grid technical specifications, project requirements, and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and verify civil construction works on site to ensure compliance with design, specifications, and National Grid standards.
* Conduct inspections, quality checks, and ensure that all documentation meets project quality requirements.
* Liaise with contractors, site management, and quality teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
* Review and approve civil engineering documentation including method statements, ITPs, and test results.
* Support safe delivery of all site activities in accordance with HSE standards and project procedures.
* Report progress, non-conformances, and quality observations to the Project Manager and Quality Lead.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in National Grid projects — ideally in a field-based civil engineering capacity.
* Strong working knowledge of National Grid technical specifications and quality assurance processes.
* Excellent communication and reporting skills, with a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
* Proficient in setting out (Total Station)
* Competent at managing quality control on site
