Initial Contact Support Worker Hours: 35 per week, (Generally, Monday to Friday 9-4.30 or 10.30 – 6) Contract type: Permanent Salary: £23,970 per annum (rising to £24,480 after sucessfully completing a 6-month probationary period) Location: Torfaen (Workplace based) All team members must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of the Charity and the people we support Purpose of the Post: To provide support and advice to women (and their children) who are accessing our service at the point of crisis. Ensure immediate intervention, risk assessment and safety planning where needed. Specific Responsibilities Deliver specialist Domestic Abuse support services to women and children who seek safety, support or information often at the point of crisis through our drop-in centre in Torfaen. Carry out initial needs and risk assessments to determine what level and type of service is appropriate. Support women to identify and engage with their personal safety plan. Signpost/refer women to the most appropriate service(s) including external agencies, social services, the police and our own services. Process requests for emergency refuge or temporary accommodation, assessing suitability and arranging transportation if needed. Complete MARAC Referrals for high-risk clients; ensuring completion of all tasks allocated to CWA following MARAC. To make contact with women following PPN referrals received from the police. Ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, including inputting information into the Information Management System. Be fully aware of the child and adult protection procedures, report to line manager any concerns and process referrals when required. Work alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of all our support services. Encourage clients to participate in and give feedback on service provision.
