Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant Required in KS1 September 2025 Full-time, temporary role Full academic year A lovely school in Bootle are looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant t o join their small primary school from September, to work with multiple pupils who need Phonics Intervention. There will also be aspects of 1:1 support for particular pupils who may have additional needs or SEMH. Experience: Experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school setting, ideally in KS1. Proven experience delivering phonics interventions or supporting systematic synthetic phonics (e.g., Letters and Sounds, Little Wandle, Read Write Inc). Experience working with children with diverse needs, including EAL and SEND. Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of phonics teaching methods and progression in early reading. Ability to assess children's phonics knowledge and adapt support accordingly. Excellent spoken and written English. Competent in managing small groups or 1:1 sessions. Confident in using assessment data to track pupil progress and report back to the teacher. Personal Attributes: Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic with a genuine passion for early literacy.
