Location: Regional Recruitment – Bournemouth and surrounding areas (Postcodes BH, DT). Salary: £29,047 – £50,000 (dependent on qualifications & experience). Position: Full‑time, mid‑senior level.
Job Purpose
As an Air Conditioning Engineer you will operate and maintain building AC/HVAC services, carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, perform diagnostic checks and fault finding, undertake general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, and participate in the out‑of‑hours call‑out rota, completing all documentation on time.
Main Duties
* Routine PPM tasks in accordance with the SFG20 framework.
* Reactive maintenance and electrical repairs or air‑conditioning repairs as required.
* Minor new works and obtain required certification.
* Attend site meetings or training when required.
* Proactive engagement on site.
* Perform duties in line with contract deliverables.
* Cooperate with other Mitie disciplines for multi‑discipline services.
* Procure materials and equipment through Supervisor or Manager.
* Be available outside normal hours with additional remuneration.
* Participate in a call‑out rota with additional remuneration.
* Support contract mobilisation and change management.
* Maximise use and compliance of mobile technology (smartphone).
* Manage financial procedures and delivery efficiencies.
* Adhere to and promote company values.
* Assist site team in ensuring statutory and legislative requirements.
* Ensure client operational procedures are adhered to.
* Obtain access authorisation into restricted areas from client representative.
* Complete risk assessments and worksheets for works undertaken.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience in maintenance, testing and fault finding on HVAC systems and lighting.
* Refrigeration or Air Conditioning specific qualification (not F‑Gas), e.g. NVQ level 2/3 in Air Conditioning and Small Refrigeration; City & Guilds Refrigeration and Air‑conditioning (7189) level 2/3; City & Guilds Refrigeration, air‑conditioning and heat pump systems (6090) level 3; F‑Gas Category 1 (City & Guilds 2079).
* Minimum 5 years in an air‑con specific service role.
* Experience with packaged, air‑handling or split‑type systems.
* Experience on commercial equipment.
* C&G 236 Part 1 & 2; BS7671 Electrical Regulations; C&G 2391 (desired).
* Recognised trade training scheme.
* Capability to undertake maintenance and installation tasks within contract scope.
* Proactive, diagnostic and repair skills.
* Accurate record keeping on worksheets and computer‑based systems.
* Effective workload prioritisation.
* Flexibility to adapt to change and working hours (subject to EU Working Time Directive).
* Positive, customer‑service orientation.
* Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
* Professional appearance and use of uniform & PPE.
* Excellent customer service to building occupants.
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance.
* Ability to carry tools & equipment up to 20 kg; work at height.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Availability to join call‑out rota.
