We are working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Cheshunt to recruit a Salaried Trainee Geography Teacher to join our employment-based teacher training programme starting in September 2026.
This is a paid, school-based route into teaching, designed for graduates or career changers who want to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while working in the classroom from day one.
The role:
As a salaried trainee, you will teach Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7 to 11), working towards GCSE level as part of a 12-month employed teacher training programme.
You will join the school as a valued member of staff from the outset, developing your classroom practice through a rigorous, carefully sequenced training programme led by Equalitas, a DfE-accredited teacher training provider with subject expertise at its core.
Across the year, you will be supported through:
Expert-led training delivered by Equalitas, including in-person training days and online sessions
A dedicated school-based mentor, providing regular guidance, feedback and support
Ongoing subject-specific development and professional learning within a connected training community
Salary:
Salary will be in line with Unqualified Teacher Pay (UQ1) for the local area. The exact salary will be confirmed at offer stage.
Who we are looking for
You will:
Hold a UK bachelor's degree (2:2 or above), ideally in Geography or a related subject
Hold GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English Language and Maths (or equivalent)
Have the right to work full-time in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the past 3 years
Have strong subject knowledge and a clear interest in teaching Geography
Be able to support, challenge and inspire young people
Bring confidence, commitment and a strong classroom presence
