Job overview
The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service is looking to recruit an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to be part of our mainstream schools team. They would consider the post as a Band 5 to Band 6 development opportunity for the right candidate.
This role offers the opportunity to develop assessment and therapeutic skills, working with children aged 5 and above with primary language difficulties.
The successful candidate will deliver speech and language therapy services for children and young people with language disorders within the Doncaster community. Responsibilities include independent assessments, treatment, and developing tailored care programs. They will be an integral part of the schools team, contributing to resource and training development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to:
* Be a qualified clinician within their speciality
* Provide clinical expertise supporting high standards of therapeutic care
* Manage own caseload with assessments, management, treatment, and advice
* Collaborate with health, social care, and other agencies
* Use resources efficiently
* Contribute to service development
* Ensure Clinical Governance is integrated into service delivery
* Represent the Therapy Team and support the development of the wider service

The Speech and Language Therapy Service comprises 28 therapists and assistants across multiple pathways, delivering high-quality paediatric care. Team leads and clinical specialists provide operational and clinical support, with supervision available for all staff.

Qualifications/Training
* Degree in speech sciences or medical sciences (BSc or MSc)
* Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
* Completion of RCSLT Newly Qualified Practitioner Goals
* HCPC registration
Experience
* Experience with paediatric caseloads
* Experience with assessment tools and therapeutic interventions
* Experience working with children with language difficulties and DLD
* Experience with AAC, e.g., symbols, communication boards
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
